JEFF TOYNE Original Music
Jeffrey Toyne has succeeded in establishing himself as one of today’s most promising young composers of film and television music. While still a student, Mr. Toyne completed the score to his first feature film, Maxwell’s Demon, in 1998. Upon earning a Master’s degree in composition, Mr. Toyne was chosen to attend the Henry Mancini Institute in Los Angeles and later earned a certificate in Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television from the University of Southern California. In 2001, he began work alongside respected film composer Edward Shearmur in Los Angeles. This collaboration has led to credit on numerous motion pictures including K-PAX, Reign of Fire, Charlie’s Angels 2: Full Throttle, and Johnny English. Increasingly in demand internationally, Mr. Toyne has orchestrated music for the Japanese feature Hotaru no Hoshi (which he also conducted), the BBC docu-drama Colosseum: A Gladiator’s Story, and Michael Kamen’s posthumous score for Back to Gaya. Among his other film credits he counts the feature film Midnight is Coming, and over thirty short films, including two Academy Award nominees. For television, Mr. Toyne composed the theme for the CTV pilot The Daily Blade; current endeavours include music for noted animated and reality television series. The recipient of numerous awards and distinctions, his Songs of Innocence received the Godfrey Ridout Award for choral composition in the 1998 SOCAN Young Composer’s Competition. Mr. Toyne has been commissioned by organizations such as the Canadian Armed Forces, for which he composed Splendor Sine Occasu, the Official March of the British Columbia Brigade, and more recently, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, as part of their Olympic Comissioning Project. Born in Canada, Mr. Toyne divides his time between Los Angeles and Vancouver, where he lives with his wife Lisa.
